The Gold Phonetic Series is written in a simple way for children who are learning to read. The series provides an opportunity for young readers to practice reading fluently and independently. As young readers achieve fluency with each book, they grow in confidence and start to develop a love for reading.
Each book is carefully constructed to include phonetically sounded and high frequency words vital for first reading experiences. The phrases and sentences on each page are supported closely by pictures to serve as a guide for understanding and an opportunity to engage in discussion. The sound cues (represented by dots and strokes) further supports learners through their phonetic reading experience.
The series consists of eleven books which are designed to build on the child's confidence through progressively building on fluency with cvc words, phrases and simple sentences.
Each book opens with key words which will be revisited throughout the story. The text font and size allows for an easy visual experience for the learner. A careful match between text and pictures allows the child to self correct whilst gaining confidence with reading.
